Kate provides expert support and advice for parents and schools on students with special educational needs. She has 20 years of experience as a specialist teacher and SENCo in the independent sector, Kate has provided support for students, advised parents, and managed the school-wide provision of support both in and outside the classroom. Her postgraduate diplomas in Dyslexia and DCD/ADHD, combined with training across many other things that impact on learning, have built her theoretical framework that underpins her practical experience.
Kate is full-time consultant for parents and schools, Kate works alongside students to unlock their barriers to learning. With a child-centered, holistic approach stemming from her Montessori training, she places an importance on looking beyond a diagnosis. She helps parents and schools understand the student to enable effective support and intervention, at home and in the classroom.
Recognising and respecting neurological differences as human variation, Kate advocates an approach that is centered on the needs of the individual, and not the label. She breaks down labels by providing practical recommendations and strategies that not only help with the current challenges but build towards the next stage of the educational journey. With this comes empathetic communication between all involved, enabling parents and students to feel empowered, confident, and listened to.
